The Innovation In Science Through A Digital Video Recorder
I still remember when I first saw an ad in a technology magazine for something called a Digital Video Recorder. I thought to myself, this will never work, how on Earth can you manage to store hours of films on something called a hard drive? It just seemed that tapes and cassettes were always going to be around.
The idea sounded ludicrous, but still I hoped it was true because I was forever running out of tapes to record things on. I was always having to delete things before I could tape something new, and I must admit that using fast forward and rewind was a bit of a chore. Perhaps Digital Video Recording was what I had been waiting for.
The ad went on to say that you could even record programs on the hard drive when you were not even at home. You could automatically program the Digital Video recorder to do this, and the quality of the recorded picture was much better than on a tape cassette.
Obviously like with any new technology the price was astronomical at first, but over a period of time the price did drop, and I eventually managed to be able to afford a DVR. They were just as good as they were reported to be, with only one drawback: you had to continually dial up a number to get the latest listings on your DVR.
But I must admit that was the only thing that did not impress me at the time; it was certainly a lot better than my Video Tape Recorder of the time.
Now you can get even more programs on the hard drives, and this is because the hard drives just keep getting bigger and better.
It almost seems like an eternity ago when the DVR first came out, but it was not really that long ago. But like most of the other recent inventions, I can not imagine what life would have been like without it.
I am just so glad that I decided to buy that first Digital Video recorder, it have been an invaluable addition to my house.
