Take Ceasar’s Warning To Heart
Most people are aware of the saying that has to do with the Ides of March; it is a warning from a prophet to Julius Caesar about his death by murder. This saying became famous in Shakespere’s play about Julius Caesar which warned of the death of Casesar by a soothsayer.
March 15 is the day which Romans celebrated as a tribute to Mars. In 44 BCE on March 15th, Caesar was murdered by Brutus and two other people. Since that time, this date is known as a day to pay attention to for change to take place.
It is historically ironic that Washington DC and the end of Caesar’s reign of power happened on the same day. Washington’s birthday is considered March 15 in 1791. There certainly has been many changes that have swept the world since the first of the year and March is no exception as astrologers keep track of the changes that have already begun since the Ides of March.
Comparing the natal chart of Washington D.C. with the progressed chart for March 15, 2011, there are several important planetary relationships which command our attention. Significantly, a great number of these occur in the eighth and ninth houses of the synastry of the two charts. Synastry is an astrological term which describes the compatibility/similarity of two charts and is a reliable indicator to help forecast what may transpire going forward as a result of this melding of past and future.
March 15th, 2011 marks a point where several powerful influences may change the course of destiny. The transit of Washington D.C.’s sun is almost in the exact same position as it was on the day Washington was founded. Similarly, the transit of Mars is also in nearly the same position as the natal mars. Even more striking is that both Suns and both Mars’ are in conjunction and in conjunction with each other. To put this into English (as opposed to astrologese) Sun conjunct Sun, Mars conjunct Mars, Natal Sun conjuct both Natal Mars and Transit Mars and Transit Sun conjunct both natal Mars and transit Mars.
All of this will be happening in the 8th House of transformation. This house also includes finances, passion and crises. This is a House of evolution and a very strong one at that. The coming events may be viewed as a coming storm or a beautiful day. Some may see it as a bit of both.
The conjunction, in and of itself, is perhaps the most potent aspect in astrology. When the conjunction involves the Sun, this effect is magnified. Here you have the double impact of the Sun conjunct to its natal self. With Pisces as both the natal and transit sign, both the positive and the negative Piscean traits are brought to the fore. The compassionate, idealistic aspects of the sign have to compete with the tendency to be self-indulgent and escapist being caught up in drama and impractical solutions to real world problems.
When viewed from a world perspective, this is a battle with self vs self and can bring on a ship without a rudder. What people are currently thinking may not be reality and can have a huge affect on this country.
Could a major political scandal be brewing? This could well be the time that the curtain is pulled back on some long kept secrets and the revelations may not be welcome.
Reality may be blocked by a mis-leading idealism that could make the chaos have no direction. While this may be transformative, we should not get attached to an unseen outcome in the coming months. Mars, the War God, will add intensive and explosive energy which may heighten the chaos.
The God of War being conjunct with itself will increase the energy. Suffice it to say that the war drums on louder than ever. This type of energy was a driving force in the early days during the formation of our country. While Pisces can have a somewhat calming effect, it will not be enough to hide the energy of Mars.
Both positive and negative energies are present between Mars and the Sun bringing both to the forefront. While there can be turmoil during this phase, this is the same type of situation that came into play when the founding of Wash DC was created and the compromises about where it should be located were being debated.
There is, at present, the competition between Mars and the Sun, each having their own interests at heart and who will become the dominant energy in the months that lie in the future.
We should pay attention to another issue happening in the 8th house. Saturn is conjunct with natal Uranus in DC’s progressed chart. An important new direction could be the result of this relationship. Because it is happening in a house of transformation, the importance of this should not be underestimated. The Ides of March comes to mind here. These types of high energies should not be overlooked as something ‘new under the Sun’ is coming. Our response is as important now as the events themselves on our future. It is ultimately up to each individual as to the outcome.
As the Bard put it so well:
‘The fault, dear Brutus, lies not with our stars, but with our selves’.
